ARIA Last Flight
For over 30 years the Advanced Range Instrumentation Aircraft, ARIA, has been tracking, recording and relaying telemetry from Apollo missions, Space Shuttles, and ballistic missiles. The ARIA program came to a close August 24, 2001 as the EC-18 aircraft, tail number 81-0891, touched down after its final mission at Edwards AFB.
It was fitting that the last ARIA mission was staged out of Ascension Island.
The ARIA program has come to a close but ARIA will always be in our hearts. The good times and the sad times. Rejoicing in the friends we met along the way, and mourning of our friends who lives were lost serving their God and Country.
It has been a great adventure.
